I am assuming it's not the stock stereo?
Usually they are wired to shut down when you turn the ignition off.
There are two power wires to after-market decks (and most stock ones). One is the power, the other is to allow it to turn on/off with the ignition switch.
You should be able to take it apart (worst case you might have to find a diagram or get a manual for the audi to identify which wires to connect from the car to the deck.
I almost always bypass the entire electrical system in any vehicle I install a system in - and when I turn the car off, I don't want the stereo to necessarily turn off. I can always turn it off manually, or pop the face off.How do I set the stereo of my Audi A3 to turn on and off when I start and stop the engine?I'm not sure if audi's are like Vdubs but if you just take out the key when you shut off the car it should shut off the radio depending on if you still have the factory radio
if not, then you should wire your stereo's power source into an ignition switched feed. usually best to look around in the fuse box inside the car and find one that turns on when the key is in the on position
