and man youre lucky, the RS6's are seriously bad machined. a friends uncle had a 650 hp one. such a monster/sleeper. His was the avant also :)
for willis C:
Turbos CAN be very reliable. The B5 S4s came stock with a twin turbo setup that just happened to have the actual turbocharger be pretty unreliable. None of his mods are all that odd at all.
And MANY MANY MANY manufacturers ARE going to turbos in everyday cars. all modern diesels , all of subarus, many audis and VWs, some porsches, some BMWs and mercedes, the SRT4 neon, and zillions of other cars are all turbocharged from the factory now.
and under your logic, why would we eat tasty foods? THey dont nourish us better than bland, inexpensive foods. Theyll just make you fat. Why not drive a 1985 volvo 240 DL? Why have any car with over 60 hp? why buy cool looking furniture when you can buy used, cheap stuff for less, and it does the same job?
and there arent rules against how quick youre allowed to get to the speed limit. And there are places called race tracks where you can drive well over any posted speed limit. And dont even try to tell me you have never broken the speed limit in your life.
Stop being an idiot. How do you know your turbos are failing in a 2001 Audi S4?
Check your throttle body boot!!! It has a notorious reputation for developing tears in it, which will let too much air into the intake and overboost/overspool the turbos. Too many incidents like that and you'll blow one. Real Audi owners go here

How do you know your turbos are failing in a 2001 Audi S4?And NO those turbos do NOT start going out at that mileage. The reason the early turbos failed was due to small oil cooler lines, which were upgraded in later models. Mine has over 144,000 miles and NO turbo problems. Make sure you use 0w40 or 5w40 GERMAN oil.Report Abuse
How do you know your turbos are failing in a 2001 Audi S4?The chip requires a higher compression turbo boost. You need to replace the turbos with an aftermarket part that can provide the level of boost the new chip wants it to. Coming from a previous Audi turbo owner, I would strongly advise you not to put any that on your Audi if you care about the longevity of the motor. You will likely destroy your motor bearings as the lubrication system in that motor was not designed for that type of power. If the S4 isn't fast enough... get you an RS6.... grrrrrrrrHow do you know your turbos are failing in a 2001 Audi S4?you will get less mtgHow do you know your turbos are failing in a 2001 Audi S4?
Maybee if you "import tuner" guys didnt install all these stupid mods that no ones ever herd of you're bearings %26amp; so forth wouldnt be failing. If turbos were more reliable I'm sure the avg joe would have one under the hood of his car. Anyway you dont need a turbo to reach posted speed limits. Sounds like you all have a bunch of money to throw away so I'm sure you'll figure something out.
at 70k miles and beyond, the stock s4 turbos are in need of replacing.
recommend picking up with rs4 ko4s to go along with your other goodies.
