I am purchasing a 2003 Audi A4 3.0 and I was told that the oil only has to be changed every 10,000 miles when synthetic is used. Is this true? I am used to changing the oil every 3,000 or so miles in my other cars. How often do you have to change the oil on a 2003 Audi A4 3.0?Your going to want to change it every 5000 miles. When you do be sure to use fully synthetic 5w-30. The owners manual says to use castrol syntec, but any decent brand will do, I use mobile-1.
Since your not running the turbo version, you can probably go a little longer if you dont have time or forget, but more much. How often do you have to change the oil on a 2003 Audi A4 3.0?

This is what Audi want you to do. They also want you to buy a new car once every 60K miles.
Audi made lots of BAD fluid recommendation in the recent past (like use conventional oil for turbo, tranny oils are sealed and don't need flushing, etc.)

I change my 2000 Audi A4 oil every 3K mile to 5K miles (full synthetic).
Good Luck...
P.S. Audi engines suffer lots of break down - partly due to the factory's long oil interval. How often do you have to change the oil on a 2003 Audi A4 3.0?you can go 10k miles on any car, any oil. well at least anyone can tell you that. How often do you have to change the oil on a 2003 Audi A4 3.0?
German cars like VW, BMW, MBz, and AUDI can go a full service interval of 15,000 miles when using premium Synthetic Motor Oils like MOBIL ONE, CASTROL SYNTHETIC, SHELL SYNTHETIC etc. with an oil filter change and 10W-40 or equivilent viscosity suitable for summer and winter temperatures. The synthetic motor oils are man-made and are not as perishible as mineral oils. Some manufacturer's recommend a full mechanical service and inspection at every other oil change: ie 30,000 mile intervals. There is no harm done if you have a high mileage car or just wish to change oil and filter at 10,000 mile intervals. Your choice. How often do you have to change the oil on a 2003 Audi A4 3.0?The 10,000 miles is true.
The synthetic is not.
All oils last the same, but some protect the engine more during that time.
Audi's require synthetic because they are luxury cars.
The 3000 mile rule is 30 years old. We have newer oils now. New Oils last much longer than the oil from 30 years ago. 7500 miles is the minimun amount of miles you should go before getting an oil change with any car.
3000 miles is too soon. Just wait at least every 7500 miles.
Mechanic shops and places that change oil tell you to change oil every 3000 miles so they can get more business and money.
