What can i do to make my 98 Audi A4 temperature back to normal?

There is a flashing temperature picture of a temperature Gage with water under it on my dashboard. I looked and thought it might be because it needs water so it wont over heat, but it never overheats, and i cant find where to add the water. Any suggestions would greatly help. These cars don't usually over-heat in the old fashion sense where coolant is running all over the ground.

Or you could have gotten lucky and the level sensor inside the coolant reservoir has gone bad. The reservoir is a little ball up by the firewall. Your best bet is to take this to a mechanic and have it looked at, you could very well kill your engine by leaving this flashing.
