What is the difference between the audi a6's v8 and the audi r8's v8?

Besides 100hp what other differences are there ?What is the difference between the audi a6's v8 and the audi r8's v8?The 4.2 engine in the R8 and RS4 is entirely different from the base models with the 4.2. They share the same basic technology such as FSI and bore/stroke ratios but that's where the similarities end. The pistons have been changed to change the swirl produced from the incoming air charge. The heads have been upgraded to allow for more flow and higher velocities. The oil system has been upgraded to allow for more spirited driving (the R8 utilizes a dry sump system to keep oil churning and power loss due to oil saturation down and allow for a lower setting into the engine bay). Intake and exhaust manifolds are tuned for the specific operating characteristics of the cylinder heads....The list goes on. These are def. not the same beasts. One very large difference is the institution of 2 ECM's in the R8 and RS4. The tuning characteristics are so much evolved that it requires the use of two separate control modules. Between the R8 and the RS4, even the intake manifolds are different. The R8 uses a high rise intake whereas the RS4 has a dual chamber design. Hope this helps! Also, just an FYI, the institution of the new 10 cylinder has people clamoring about saying that we borrowed it from Lamborghini etc. Just wanted to set that straight. Although it was borrowed from Lambo's 5.0l 10 cylinder, Audi changed everything about it including adding its FSI technology and beefing it up to 5.2l. The actually had made it to put into the R8 (which they now have) but Lambo saw that the $150k R8 would be better and faster then the $300k Murcielago when put with the Quattro system. That is why it took a while to institute it into the R8 and Audi settled for installing it into the much heavier S6 and S8 sedans. What is the difference between the audi a6's v8 and the audi r8's v8?
Nothing much really. The Audi R8's V8 is just a pumped-up version of Audi A6's V8. It costs more and probably weighs heavier, but it's still a 4.2 FSI V8 isn't it, so there. What is the difference between the audi a6's v8 and the audi r8's v8?The V8 4.2 FSI engine is a used by Audi in a variety of models. In the A6, A8 and Q7, they deliver all the same power. The first tuned V8 4.2 FSI found his place in the 2005 RS4. The exact same engine was put in the R8.

So the V8 4.2 FSI is exactly the same, but Audi tuned it up. Plus the R8 is much lighter then an A6, so the BHP/LB (or BHP/KG) ratio is much advantageous. In the R8 the engine sounds more vivid because it's right behind you, where the engine of the A6 is much better isolated. The driving experience isn't comparable.

Tuning, exhaust, intake, down pipes...you can do this yourself on the A6 V8 for 5 to 10K. I souped up my S4 V8 to perform similarly to the RS4 just by adding after market exhaust and a cool air intake ($3000 investment)...well worth it.What is the difference between the audi a6's v8 and the audi r8's v8?a few grand/they pumped it and that costs money
