Wheel bearings can wear quite badly, but aren't ferociously expensive to sort as long as you don't use main dealers.
Gearboxes can give trouble, but this is uncommon, and if the 'box is smooth %26amp; quiet, you shouldn't have any issues.
The big problem is the fuel system - The Bosch LH injection pump is prone to failure at around 5 - 8 years, and unless you shop around, you could easily end up eith a 拢1,500 repair bill (around 拢3,000 from a main dealer).
