You should look for an 01 or 02 model. Also, the cars are highly sought after by enthusiasts because of their tuning capabilities, which can make it hard to find unmolested examples. Nevertheless, you'll want to get a PPI done on any car you are considering by a trusted independent shop. The cars are getting old now so certain routine maintenance issues are going to pop up.

I give it these rankings, because they don't rust at all for 12-16 years, the drive is amazing! It's a practical car, unlike a coupe or a compact car, The transmission is great, i ranked it a 7.5 because our 2000 Audi S4's transmission broke down twice. The value for price, is because the S4 is prices similarly to the Bmw M3, but the M3 has more hp/torque.
