What kind of coolant am I supposed to put in my 1998 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro?

do not listen to these other guys!!!! G12 coolant only!!!! On the coolant reservoir it has a picture of a book with an exclamation mark and "G12" for a reason!!! do not use anything you get at autozone; yes it's cheaper but it can cause serious problems. G12 is somewhat expensive but you can do a 50/50 G12/Water mix. The only place you can get it is at a VW or Audi dealer. What kind of coolant am I supposed to put in my 1998 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro?Did you look in your Audi manual that should be in your glove box? Do you mean like for the air conditioning or engine coolant? Engine coolant, Prestone or any brand name will be ok to use. Check you local auto parts store to see if they are online and have a search. You can usually find what you need there! What kind of coolant am I supposed to put in my 1998 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro? Not sure exactly which coolant it is for that year. Recommended that you use G11 or G12 by the dealer. Other coolants are supposed to mess up the cooling system. I used prestone in my 2000 vw which uses the same coolants as Audi. I did end up having to replace a few cooling system parts and now I just buy the G12 from the dealer. It will cost you around $20. I have seen it online it the past but not sure at what price it wasWhat kind of coolant am I supposed to put in my 1998 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro?Use VW/Audi coolant or equivalent only. Either get it from the dealership or from a German shop. If you're in a bind, it's better to just add water as opposed to adding in the green stuff. The green stuff should never be used on your Audi. As far as I know, the only equivalent brand other than VW/Audi is Pentosin. It comes in a 1 liter bottle (undiluted so you have to mix it with water) and costs around $13...cheaper than the dealership stuff. :-)
