I started my '97 A4, headlights would not come on, then car stuttered and died. Radio would not turn off with key; obviously my ignition switch died. I put a new ignition switch in which fixed the other electrical problems but car won't crank now. Is there a starter relay or fuse which could have blown which is not in the fuse box? What sort of additional electrical damage could a faulting Audi A4 ignition switch cause? You probably have a key code reader fault Its a small coil that picks up a signal from your key.If you have a poor connection to the coil this fault will occur.Under the steering wheel cover you will see a single lead plugged into the key reader coil remove this and check the connection is clean use some electrical switch cleaner,Had the same fault on my A4.Its a fairly common fault with them. What sort of additional electrical damage could a faulting Audi A4 ignition switch cause?
If it has a passive theft system, you may need to program the key into itWhat sort of additional electrical damage could a faulting Audi A4 ignition switch cause?you may need ignition key programed at the dealerWhat sort of additional electrical damage could a faulting Audi A4 ignition switch cause?
did you ever get a recall on the switch, I had one come in on my 1996 about 6 mo ago. What sort of additional electrical damage could a faulting Audi A4 ignition switch cause?if the starter stayed ingaged when the switch went (switch stayed in the start position) it could have burned the starter up this happened on a 90 that i had.
