http://www.standardshift.com/faq.htmlI just bought a Audi TT manual and need tips on how to drive it?to drive a stick shift (manual) you depress the left hand pedal (clutch) and engage 1st gear (normally top left position) ease clutch out gradually until you hear engine revs drop slightly (known as bite point) apply a few more revs (carefull not to over rev) and release clutch until you are moving (good idea to release handbrake at bite point). as soon as possible move into next highest gear (2nd) by depressing clutch pedal again and shifting gear lever straight back (across neutral position). gain a little more speed (approx 20 mph) engage third gear (middle position forward - if you move lever forward out of 2nd into nuetral it should move to the right, push forwards and it will engage 3rd) accelerate some more to approx 35 and engage 4th and then 5th. listen to engine noise rather than tachometer this way you will keep your eyes on the road. the noise you want to hear is approx 2500 rpm in each gear so that you drive smoothly the speed you reach in each gear going up the box are approximately the speeds you can engage that gear on the way back down the gearbox so try to remember them. above all practise where it is safe to do so and obey speed limits. good luckI just bought a Audi TT manual and need tips on how to drive it?The links the previous poster contribuited are DEAD ON! Read it and try to apply some of the concepts as needed. You will get the FEEL of how your car is and what it likes to do at a certain engine speed. Too low of an RPM and the car can knock a little bit and have no power. Too high and the car just feels uncomfortable and burns a little more gas than necessary. Do not excessively slip the clutch because it will get hot. Dont use too much clutch when starting from a stop because your engine will bog. I'd shift at around 3000-3500 rpm when accelerating in 1st and 2nd during normal driving. Be light on the gas when driving through parking lots in 1st gear to keep it from lugging/bucking. If it happens, just clutch-in and slip it out easily while resting the pad of your foot on the gas pedal just to bring the RPMs to about 1500-1700 RPM. Your example answer: If in 3rd gear and you need to slow down, to keep your RPMs above 2000 you will want to 'rev-match'. You just step on the gas a little, maybe 1/4 throttle and downshift shift while gently letting the clutch out. You do not want to engine-brake, which is why you need more engine speed to match the gear speed range. When you're rolling to a stop use your engine to help you slow down while 'resting' your foot on the brake pedal. When the RPMs get close to 1500 just clutch-in and continue to stop. I wish I could teach you what you want to know but this is the best I can do online plus you have a really SWEET A-- CAR. B-)

I just bought a Audi TT manual and need tips on how to drive it?
I got all the basics down, but it would be really helpful to know step-by-step instructions on how to drive a stick. One of the main concerns I have is what to at a light or in traffic. I know to go into neutral to stop, but what if it is not necessary to stop like in sudden traffic. Would I need to go into neutral. For example if I'm in 3rd gear and hit traffic but do not need to make a complet stop do I go into neutral, or shift down?I just bought a Audi TT manual and need tips on how to drive it?http://www.10w40.com/individual/100186.a鈥?/a>
