What is a fair price for a wheel baring on a 2003 Audi A6?
Do I just get one replaced or is it better to get both done? I don't know much about cars, and don't want to get overcharged. Thanks. What is a fair price for a wheel baring on a 2003 Audi A6?I actually had both replaced on my 05 A6 because I slid into the curb during a bad snow storm. They are 250 each. Once I wrecked my car the body shop forgot to put "Grease" in my baring's container or something. (Tell your mechanic who is doing the job that the baring's are not greaseless like most other cars on the road today.) The car constantly made a loud noise whenever I turned. I took the car to Audi and they charged me 450 dollars to grease them. What is a fair price for a wheel baring on a 2003 Audi A6?Tough to tell. I have American cars, where parts are reasonable, but my friend had an Audi and every part was special order from Germany and 3-4x the cost of a domestic partWhat is a fair price for a wheel baring on a 2003 Audi A6?It is better to replace both. I'm assuming it is the front ones. My front wheel bearings on my '02 BMW 530I were about $120 each. I replaced them myself, so I don't know how much labor should cost. Before you spend money on bearings, you should try rotating the tires because sometimes certain tires will make a noise just like wheel bearings when they get worn. If the noise moved after the tire rotation then it is a tire. If the noise stays in the same area then it is probably a bearing. I had some Fuzions one time and they made a lot of noise on my BMW, but on my Mustang GT, I never had any trouble running them. It is just the way the suspension is setup sometimes.
