When do you think an audi car will end its domination at the le mans 24 hours?

the r8 and r10 are exceptional cars and im an audi fan...



but its starting to be like a schumi thing



do you think a peugeot 908 can beat the audi next year?When do you think an audi car will end its domination at the le mans 24 hours?It will change when other auto makers step up there research and development programs like Audi. Things like this happen all the time and more times than not the auto manufacture goes the wrong way at first and never do dominates like they (Audi) have been able to do.

Years ago it was the Toyota cars that were on top. No one could touch them.



Every team out there knows what they have to do to catch up. This type of racing is pretty secret stuff until race season starts but you can always go back to last years track times to set your teams goals. That is what it will take for them to catch up. If your car can't do the time Audi did last year than there is no reason to think you will beat Audi in 2008.



One other thing the driveing teams does matter a little bit but lets face it when you get here your good and there is not that much differenance between drivers it is who made and works on what they are driving.When do you think an audi car will end its domination at the le mans 24 hours?I think the Peugeots might stand a chance next year. They had a good driving crew this year, so it falls on the team to build the right car.



There are rules changes forthcoming for prototypes in LeMans racing--back to having a roof over the car again, and I believe the Peugeot already meets that (if not they have little work to do).



As well, even the P2 cars are showing in ALMS that Audi CAN be beat. Maybe not yet over 24 hours, but the fact is the Penske team took the Audis last weekend at Road America, a circuit where the P2 cars have never before been able to beat Audi in the past.



I hope Henri Pescarolo, rather than continue to complain as he did this year, simply does something about getting his cars into a more competitive situation with the Audis. I know he feels the rules favour the diesel cars right now, and that seems a valid concern, but why not try to improve?



Alas, even Schumacher was beat eventually. Would be nice to see others at least step up to take on Audi. The whole of LeMans style racing needs revitalizing. Outside of Europe, the ALMS suffers with very few P1 cars and until last week only the Vettes in GT1. And, speaking of those Vettes, they dominated for a long time didn't they; but the Aston's came along and gave them a good fight.



It will come. I wish BMW had stayed in it. That was such a great car in 2000. Heck, Cadillac was just reaching the point where they were ready to fight for wins with their stunning P1 car and they quit.



Don't worry though, Audi will have competition. All the others want to beat them very badly I think :)

They were always so careful not to let 1 car run away with stuff but I guess in an attempt to make diesel more popular they haven't touched them other than the gas tank size.



Everybody knows its going to have a mileage advantage but why let them have a power advantage too?When do you think an audi car will end its domination at the le mans 24 hours?
the problem is that most teams are in le mans for the sale of their production line cars, they want a photo of their emblem taking the checkered flag with a banner that implies that buying their car is buying a champion, this is why Cadillac gave it 3-4 years and gave up, this is why Bentley pulled out after they won the race,



eventually Audi will decide that they have maximized profits from the r10 and will pull out or maybe move into gt2 for a more production based campaign and someone else will move in to take their place
