When is it too high for the RPM to reach while driving an 01 Audi TT?

I have a 2001 Audi TT that I have recently bought and it has a manual transmission.

I have been driving it around with no problem but are there any suggestions to saving gas?

And is it bad to go over 3000 rpm? thanks in advance :)When is it too high for the RPM to reach while driving an 01 Audi TT?for auto transmission, slow and steady acceleration is the key to economical driving, keep your tyres at the right pressure, the harder the tyres the less friction on the road, so you use less fuel. i keep my tyres 2 psi below the max pressure that's rated on the side of the tyre. as for the rpm question, you should keep it below 3000rpm, until the car reaches normal operating temperature, but if your looking to drive economically then you probably wont have to go far over this any way. When is it too high for the RPM to reach while driving an 01 Audi TT?Jason's answer is correct if you're talking about an automatic transmission, which you're obviously not considering you said MANUAL. You cant let the rpm's on a manual transmission get too low or else you will stall/hurt the tranny. A good cruising rpm is around 2000-2500 rpm. Definitely don't let it get below 2000 though. As far as maximum, I believe the TT is capable of redlining at 6500-7000 rpm, but as far as normal shifting, I wouldn't go above 3500-4000 when accelerating. If you shift in that range, you'll keep your gas mileage in a good range, it's not like the TT is a guzzler anyway. When is it too high for the RPM to reach while driving an 01 Audi TT?If the motor starts to make a rattling, ticking, type noise......back off just a little....LMAO
