My audi a6 has white smoke coming out of the exhaust even though the engine is warm do i need to take it in to the dealer or is this a normal thing? My audi a6 has white smoke coming out of the exhaust even though the engine is warm. Is this normal?is it smoke or water vapor? does it smell like like oil burning? if it smells like oil burning it could be the valve guides, and thats not to expensive to replace. Is it even using any oil or water? My audi a6 has white smoke coming out of the exhaust even though the engine is warm. Is this normal?
It's hard to say for sure. Some steam is normal, because water is a by product of the catalytic converter. If the steam is clouds that obscure your view out the rear window, you could have a leaking head gasket. Has the car been using coolant? Is the level of coolant going down in the catch bottle? Has the car overheated lately? Any of these could mean a head or head gasket problem. Have it checked out. You don't have to go to the dealer, unless it is still under warranty. My audi a6 has white smoke coming out of the exhaust even though the engine is warm. Is this normal? In cold weather, it is not a problem. Water vapor is a byproduct of a clean running engine. If you have an overheating problem or a bad smell to go with it. It could be a head gasket problem. Or antifreeze getting into the combustion chamber somehow. My audi a6 has white smoke coming out of the exhaust even though the engine is warm. Is this normal?
It could be condensation in the exhaust, but probably not if its warm, or a hairline crack in the head gasket: look for a spark plug that looks steam cleaned, or a crack in the vacuum modulator in an Auto trans. Trans fluid smokes white. My audi a6 has white smoke coming out of the exhaust even though the engine is warm. Is this normal? Its not normal if its doing that all the time. Usually is just when you start driving it. I would get it checked out.
