i have been gone for a month and a half and my audi has not been driven or started the whole time. i came home today and tried to turn it on and it does nothing. it doesnt even sound like its trying to start. i thought it was the battery and i was going to try to jump it but when i put it in neutral with the emergency break down it wont move at all... does anyone know what the problem might be?My 2007 audi a4 wont start or even budge in neutral? When attempting to crank the car, do the lights on the dash dim considerably?
If you have the driver information system fitted to your vehicle, it should advise you of a low power battery when turning on the ignition. I assume you need to move the vehicle to be able to jump start it. Remove the battery and charge it if you have a charger. If not, take it to a battery centre or dealer and ask them to test for dead cells and charge it for you.
You don't state which engine or gearbox yours has (Audi make tiptronic, DSG and multitronic "auto" gearboxes. They all work very differently, but are all electronically controlled and may need battery power to release from park.
Your car not moving in neutral may also be as a result of the park brake binding to the discs which is common when leaving it engaged for that length of time especially if you live somewhere with high humidity or parked the car with wet discs and usually releases instantly once you apply torque or induce motion, meaning you need to start the motor or have an ability to tow it.
