Audi 1.8T A-4 2003, had battery replaced now the speedometer does not read correctly. How do I reset it? ?

This is my son's car and he is deployed. I questioned the repair guy and he said no problem with changing the battery I even questioned something about the MPH, thinking it wouldn't go over a certain speed. But what I realized is it will run normal but the MPH is wrong. Going 55 mph says I am going 22 mph. Is this a simple fix and can I do it. Just sign me as Mom not a mechanic. This is an easy question to answer as i have seen this problem many many times.

First off please ignore the other answers as they are all WRONG!!!

There is a switch somewhere in the dash area that switches the cluster from KPH readout to MPH.

Locate this switch or button and your problems will be gone.

I hope this helps Good Luck.Audi 1.8T A-4 2003, had battery replaced now the speedometer does not read correctly. How do I reset it? ?Mom you need to get a read out from your cars diagnostic port it looks as if your speed transducer is faulty there is no way you can reset your speedometer.Best regards Mick UK own and work on Audi'sAudi 1.8T A-4 2003, had battery replaced now the speedometer does not read correctly. How do I reset it? ?Sounds like a computer software conflict. I would take the car to a Audi dealer and have them scan the system and do a software upgrade. I do not think the battery did it. Computer could have tripped with the voltage change.Audi 1.8T A-4 2003, had battery replaced now the speedometer does not read correctly. How do I reset it? ?
Well a mechanic can reset it real easily. Basically the easiest way to do is to unplug the speedometer and re-plug it. if that doesn't work then maybe it might need replacement. But it wont be very expensive. about $200 for they gauges. Now another thing that might be is the cars computer that has a problem. If thats it it might be a bit more expensive than the gauges
