I am going to be purchasing a 2007 Audi A3 soon, and I was wondering if there were performance limitations on an automatic versus a manual. For example, if I were to get an automatic and have it chipped, would it be less hp gain compared to a manual? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. For an 07 Audi A3, are there performance limitations on an automatic vs. manual?auto.
the auto is DSG transmission.
it shifts faster.
thats all there is to it.For an 07 Audi A3, are there performance limitations on an automatic vs. manual? Here is your shocker. The A3 does not come with an automatic transmission. The transmission which you think is an automatic is really a dual clutch manual transmission with a self shiting mechnism. It has a clutch and direct gear drive.
The car comes with either the self shifting DSG transmission which you misidentified and an automatic or a traditional six speed manual.
Neither is limited or superior to the other with a possible exception of having better speed control with the manual that you shift yourself but that is somewhat old school in thought.
